What is TG's REd?

TG's REd (Relationships Education Project) - an offshoot of the wider TG's Project - has been delivering health related education to young people since 2006.

The overall vision is to work alongside other agencies to provide confidential advice and counselling so that young people can make better, more informed lifestyle decisions.

How does it work?

TG's REd supports local secondary schools in delivery of their PHSE curriculum via trained volunteers who give lessons covering self-esteem, relationships, sexually acquired infections, HIV/AIDS and contraception.

What's been happening?

Recent events (June '08) have included a highly successful 'Health Awareness day' for year 9 pupils at The Chase school, Malvern. Physical activities included Archery, Climbing, Fencing and Circuit Training. Education sessions covered self esteem, drinking, drugs, smoking, sexual health and pregnancy. Healthy microwave cookery was also on the menu and the day was brought to a fitting conclusion via a thought provoking drama that had pupils cheering!

A similar 'Health Awareness day' is being planned for Dyson Perrins CE High School, which will take place later this year.

Who runs it?

TG's REd is run by Jan Bradford - a healthcare professional with experience in both family planning and sexual health clinics. Other volunteers include Mel, who is a practising midwife.
